You can download the FREE Demo version of the Vision Starter Kit (2.6 Megs). The file needs to be unzipped using: "pkunzip demo2.zip".
What is in the Demo version?
Basically the entire Vision Starter Kit, with a slightly modified DLL, and some missing source:
* The full manual, in Word 6.0, Rich Text and HTML formats.
* The entire C header file for the main DLL (visionsk.dll).
* The fully functional .NET class library (written in C#), without source.
* Source code for the sample programs, with the exception of the wrapper class interface code.
Why pay for the Vision Starter Kit then?
* It is a violation of the license agreement to distribute your application without purchasing the Vision Starter Kit.
* When you load the DLL for the first time each day, a splash screen appears for around 10 seconds. A file named 'visionsk.use' is then updated with a timestamp. The result is that the Demo version advertises once per day for 10 seconds. The commercial version of the DLL doesn't do timestamps or splash screens.
* You can write and test .NET programs, since the class library is included without source. But if you purchase, this class library source (a C# DLL) is included. You can study it, enhance and customize it.
* By purchasing, you get the full DLL interface code for all the languages, and the "wrapper classes" (C#, VB, C++, Delphi). You could write this yourself, but purchasing enables you to concentrate your efforts where it really counts -- writing your applications.
What about the source code for the main DLL, visionsk.dll?
* The source code for the main DLL, written in C++, is not included in the Vision Starter Kit, nor in the demo.
